The Wolf Among Us Remastered Launches October 29: Price, Noir Mode and What to Know
Telltale's noir detective thriller returns October 29 on PS5, Xbox and PC with a new black-and-white Noir Mode, bonus archival content and a 20 percent launch discount. The Nintendo Switch version is delayed.

Bigby Wolf is back on the job. The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches October 29 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, rebuilding Telltale's 2013 noir thriller with sharper visuals, a new black-and-white presentation and more than an hour of behind-the-scenes material. It is a straight remaster of the original five-episode story, not a sequel, and it arrives roughly two months before the planned 2027 launch of The Wolf Among Us 2.
Release Date and Platforms
The remaster goes live October 29 on Steam and the Epic Games Store, plus PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. A physical edition is planned for later in the holiday season. The launch lineup is:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One
- PC via Steam and Epic Games Store
Nintendo Switch owners are the exception this week; see the delay section below before you pre-order on that platform specifically.

What's New: Noir Mode and the Visual Overhaul
The headline addition is Noir Mode, a toggle that renders the entire five-episode story in a high-contrast black-and-white style built to look like a classic detective film. Telltale says you can flip between Noir Mode and the standard remastered look at any point with a single button press, mid-scene, without losing progress. Outside of that mode, the remaster carries improved lighting, redrawn character shading, an updated interface and better animation and audio sync than the 2013 original. The underlying comic-book art direction, pulled from Bill Willingham's Fables, is unchanged.
Price and Launch Discounts
The remaster lists for $29.99 on Telltale's official product page, and Steam's listing shows a 20 percent launch discount bringing it to $23.99 through the opening stretch after release. Players who already own the original The Wolf Among Us digitally on PS4, Xbox One or PC get a separate 50 percent discount on top of the launch price cut, a meaningful break for anyone who just wants the visual and Noir Mode upgrade rather than a full-price repurchase. Console storefronts are running their own regional promotions around launch, so it is worth checking your platform's store page directly before buying, since the exact discount window and eligibility can vary by region and account history.
The Nintendo Switch Delay
Telltale confirmed in mid-October that the Nintendo Switch version will not make the October 29 date alongside the other platforms. In its own statement, the studio said the Switch release "will follow at a later date," adding that the extra time is needed "to ensure we deliver the experience Nintendo players deserve." No new date has been announced. If Switch is your only platform, hold off on any pre-order until Telltale sets a firm release window.

Five Episodes Worth Revisiting
For anyone coming in cold, the remaster bundles all five original episodes into a single release: Faith, Smoke and Mirrors, A Crooked Mile, In Sheep's Clothing and Cry Wolf. You play Bigby Wolf, the reformed Big Bad Wolf working as sheriff of Fabletown, a hidden corner of New York City where characters out of fairy tales and folklore live in hiding among regular people. A series of brutal murders pulls Bigby into interrogations, crime scenes and dialogue choices that shift how the rest of Fabletown treats him through the remaining chapters. The format is the same point-and-click, choice-driven adventure Telltale built its name on: short exploration segments, timed conversation prompts and the occasional quick-time action beat, all built around branching dialogue rather than combat or puzzle-solving. It carries an ESRB Mature 17+ rating for blood and gore, intense violence, strong language, sexual themes and partial nudity, consistent with the rating the original game held.
Telltale has also published background on what the remaster team rebuilt versus what it preserved, useful reading if you want specifics before buying. For most returning players, the pitch is simple: the same story and choices that defined the original Wolf Among Us, now easier to look at and, for the first time, playable entirely in black and white.
