Helldivers 2 Celebrates Liberty Day 2026 With a Free Rifle and Ship Decorations
Arrowhead marked Liberty Day 2026 in Helldivers 2 with a free retro rifle, 24 hours of ship decorations, Discord minigames and new Super Merch rewards for returning Helldivers.

Arrowhead Game Studios marked Liberty Day inside Helldivers 2 today, October 26, with a themed 24-hour event, a free weapon for anyone who logs in, and a round of new Super Merch. The in-universe holiday marks the signing of the Liberty Day Pact, and this is the third year Arrowhead has turned it into a community event rather than just a line of in-game flavor text, as Sony detailed on the PlayStation Blog this morning.
What's free for Liberty Day 2026
The headline gift is the AR-23L Liberator Legacy, a retro rifle styled after the weapons Helldivers carried during the First Galactic War. It is not a new gun with new stats so much as a nostalgia piece for anyone who has been deployed since before the current war arc, and Arrowhead is handing it out simply for showing up rather than gating it behind a Major Order this time. The studio paired the rifle with a day of ship decorations and a run of Discord-exclusive minigames, plus a refreshed Super Merch storefront. None of it requires spending Super Credits or Warbond Medals.

How to claim the AR-23L Liberator Legacy
Eligibility is tied to activity, not purchase date: anyone who has played Helldivers 2 since September 26, 2026 at 00:00 CET qualifies. Claiming it is simple. Log in sometime during the celebration and take part, and the rifle lands in your armory. The distribution itself closes at 23:59 CET on October 26, so this is not an item you can pick up next week if you forget.
- Play works: just log in during the event window, no mission or Major Order requirement attached to the rifle itself.
- Cutoff: AR-23L Liberator Legacy distribution ends 23:59 CET, October 26, 2026.
- Eligibility window: any login activity since September 26, 2026, 00:00 CET counts.
Ship decorations and Discord-only minigames
For the full 24 hours of October 26, every player Destroyer gets dressed up with banners, rugs, party supplies, and other holiday decorations in the hangar and on the bridge. It is purely cosmetic and temporary, gone once the day ends, but it is a nice touch if you happen to be playing today rather than tomorrow.
Arrowhead also ran a set of community minigames through the official Helldivers 2 Discord server. Two are open to anyone who stops by the server for the day:
- Minidivers – send emoji stratagem codes in chat to fend off waves of enemies.
- Adopt-a-SEAF – receive a blueberry companion to look after and send on missions.
- Oath of Enlistment – receive a copy of your oath (Discord members only).
- Raise the Flag – salute in chat to raise a flag together (Discord members only).

New Super Merch and achievement unlocks
The real-world Super Merch store also picked up new items for the occasion, including two rewards tied to in-game milestones rather than a storefront price tag:
- Reach level 100 and earn the Hell Commander title to unlock the Hell Commander Pin.
- Complete 75 missions to unlock the Private Teddy Snuggles Plush (it cannot ship to Japan).
Both achievement unlocks have to be completed by February 28, 2027, and orders for the physical items are being accepted through March 31, 2027, limited to one per player. Collectors have a few extra options this year too: a free downloadable Liberty Day Party Pack with games, decorations, recipes and printable helmets, a Displate Helldivers 2 Display Shards set of six metal collectibles plus matching Liberty Day posters, and a numbered FiGGYZ collector box of four pixel-art magnetic figures, with pre-orders opening November 20.
Why this is worth logging in for
Helldivers 2 is still available through the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, so anyone who has not dropped in recently can grab the celebration without buying the game outright. Liberty Day is a smaller event than a full Warbond or a new biome, but it is also the easiest one on the calendar: no grind, no currency, just a login before the clock runs out. Arrowhead has kept the M-rated co-op shooter in rotation with these kinds of time-boxed drops since launch, alternating them with the bigger Major Order story beats, and today's free gear is one of the more generous ones to date.
If you miss the window, nothing is lost permanently. The AR-23L Liberator Legacy and the ship decorations are this year's specific rewards, and Arrowhead has run some version of Liberty Day every year since the game's 2024 launch, so a similar event is likely again in 2027. Still, free gear you can claim today beats free gear you have to wait twelve months for.
