ARC Raiders: How to Beat the Queen During the Harvester Event
The Queen guards every Harvester event in ARC Raiders with mortars, lasers and a ground slam. Here's how to break her leg joints, hit her core and walk away with her reactor.

ARC Raiders drops a "Harvester" event onto Dam Battlegrounds, Blue Gate or Spaceport at random, and the loot inside is only as good as the machine standing in front of it. That machine is the Queen, a six-legged ARC unit built around the same mortar-and-laser kit as the lighter Bastions, scaled up to the point where a careless squad can lose its whole loadout in under a minute. Here is how she actually fights, where to put your rounds and what she pays out when she finally drops.
Where the Queen Shows Up
The Queen only spawns while a Harvester map modifier is active, and she spawns specifically to guard the Harvester machine itself rather than roaming free. You will not find her on a normal raid; the event has to be rolled for that match, and it shows up as its own marker on the map screen before you drop in. Once you commit to the site, she is already standing watch, so there is no scouting her from a distance the way you can with a stray Bastion patrol.

She shares a design lineage with the smaller ARC machines you have likely already fought — her codex entry ties her to the same First Wave line as the Baron — but everything about her is bigger: more legs, more armor plating, and an attack kit that covers both long range and point-blank in the same fight.
Her Attack Pattern
The Queen cycles through four tools, and recognizing which one is coming is most of the fight:
- Mortar fire — she lobs two to five shells from the dome on her back. They land around your position and burst into fire roughly two seconds after impact, so you have a window to walk out of the blast radius if you see them land.
- Laser beam — a sustained beam that tracks whoever has line of sight on her, scorching the ground it sweeps across. She will also fire it straight into the Harvester's node if your squad is looting the node while she is still alive, which punishes greed.
- EMP pulse — used at close range, it disables gadgets and throws off your aim rather than dealing heavy direct damage.
- Ground slam — her other close-range option, a melee hit that covers more ground than it looks like it should.
Breaking line of sight behind cover kills the laser instantly, and watching for the mortar's arc rather than its explosion gives you enough time to reposition before the fire actually ignites.
Where to Actually Hit Her
The Queen has two weak points, and they work in sequence rather than independently. Her leg joints are the first target — they take reduced armor and, once enough of them are broken, the fight opens up considerably because she loses mobility and some attack options. Her core, mounted centrally, is the point that does the most damage once it is exposed and is the target you want for the actual kill. Treat the legs as the setup and the core as the finisher rather than splitting damage evenly across both from the start.
Loadout and Positioning
This is not a fight to walk into with whatever you looted on the way in. A few things make the difference between a clean kill and a wipe:
- Bring a heavy hitting weapon you can land shots with reliably — leg joints and the core both reward precision over spray.
- Carry stun or AoE grenades to cover the EMP/slam window when she closes distance, rather than trying to out-DPS her up close.
- Fight from elevated ground or a building interior so the mortar arcs are easier to read and the laser has to work to find you.
- Go in as a full squad if you can. Solo kills are possible, but the Queen's damage output is tuned around someone covering your repositioning while you focus the joints.

What You Get for the Trouble
A full kill pays out considerably more than the XP and loot from a normal raid encounter. Destroying her outright grants a chunk of XP on its own, and scavenging her core and legs afterward adds more — the core is worth roughly double what a single leg pays. The debris itself is the real draw: expect a Queen Reactor (a drop unique to her), Magnetic Accelerator and Complex Gun Parts among the larger pieces, plus a stack of the Advanced-tier crafting materials — ARC Alloy, ARC Motion Core, Advanced ARC Powercell and similar components — that are otherwise slow to farm from regular ARC patrols.
That loot table is exactly why Harvester events draw multiple squads to the same map region, and why a fight you can't finish cleanly is still worth a partial smash-and-grab rather than skipping entirely. Check the ARC Raiders Steam page for current pricing and platform availability if you still need to pick the game up, and keep an eye on Embark's own patch notes — the Queen's numbers and icon have both changed between updates, so her exact stats are worth re-checking after a major patch.
Is She Worth Fighting Every Time?
Not always. If your squad is light on healing or grenades, the smarter play is often the partial-loot approach described above, or skipping the Harvester entirely and hitting a quieter part of the map. For background on the broader ARC machine roster, Wikipedia's ARC Raiders entry covers where the Queen and her relatives fit into the game's post-apocalyptic setting, and the ESRB's parents guide to ARC Raiders is a useful reference on what the combat actually looks like if you are deciding whether this is the right game for your squad's youngest member. If you are after a different fight entirely, our guide to the Matriarch, ARC Raiders' other marquee world boss, and our breakdown of handling a Bastion without losing your shields cover the rest of the game's heavy-armor encounters.
