Phantom Blade Zero Launches October 29: Price, Editions and What to Expect

S-GAME's kungfupunk wuxia action RPG launches October 29 on PS5 and PC. Here's what the Standard and Digital Deluxe editions include, and why preordering matters less than the marketing suggests.

Phantom Blade Zero launches October 29 on PS5 and PC, closing out a run that started with a September 9 target date before S-GAME pushed it back roughly 50 days to finish polishing the game. It is a dark wuxia action RPG that the studio brands "kungfupunk," built in Unreal Engine 5 and led by Hong Kong martial arts star Donnie Yen as both creative consultant and a playable father figure. Pre-order sales reportedly put the game at the top of Steam's wishlist and sales charts within a day of going live, so there is clearly an audience waiting. Here is what actually ships on day one, what the two editions include, and why preordering matters less than the marketing suggests.

When and Where It Launches

Phantom Blade Zero goes live worldwide on October 29, 2026, for PS5 and PC, confirmed on both the PlayStation Store listing and the game's Steam store page, which sells through both Steam and the Epic Games Store. No Xbox version has been announced. The original release window was September 9, and S-GAME moved it back about seven weeks without giving a detailed reason beyond wanting more development time, a fairly common move for a studio's first big console release. There is no early access window this time around: everyone who buys either edition starts playing the same day, whether they paid $59.99 or $69.99. That is a deliberate choice on S-GAME's part, and it is worth noting given how many big releases this year sold a 72-hour head start as part of their top-tier edition.

Standard vs. Digital Deluxe

There are two digital editions at launch, and the gap between them is cosmetic rather than mechanical.

  • Standard Edition — $59.99, the full game with no bonus content beyond preorder items.
  • Digital Deluxe Edition — $69.99, adds the Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form character appearances, a digital art book and the digital soundtrack.

Neither edition includes a physical release. No retailer currently lists a boxed PS5 copy, so anyone who wants a disc on launch day is out of luck for now.

What Preordering Actually Gets You

Every preorder, regardless of edition, carries two bonus items: the Treasure Basin accessory, which adds a 10% boost to Remnant Dust drop rate, and the Legacy appearance. Both are tied to progression systems the game already has, and S-GAME has confirmed both can also be unlocked by playing normally after launch. That makes preordering a convenience rather than a requirement.

Pro tipBuy Digital Deluxe for the art book, soundtrack and the two extra outfits, not for the preorder items — those come back around in the regular loot pool, so there is no lasting advantage to buying early.

Soul, The Order and the Wulin

The story follows Soul, an elite assassin working for an organization called the Order inside the Wulin, a sprawling, politically fractured martial arts world. Soul is mortally wounded and framed for the murder of the Order's own leader, and the game follows him trying to clear his name and find who set him up while his body is failing. According to the game's own Wikipedia entry, S-GAME is pitching the combat as closer to character action than a Souls-style stamina game, with weapon swapping mid-combo and a tight parry window that previews have compared to Sekiro's deflection rhythm layered over Devil May Cry-style combo chains. The Wulin itself is described as a world of competing clans and hidden agendas rather than a single unified setting, and S-GAME has said side content will dig into factions and characters outside the main Order storyline rather than existing purely as combat filler.

Donnie Yen's Role Goes Beyond Advising

Donnie Yen has been attached as creative consultant since 2023, but the pre-order trailer confirmed he also plays a character in the game itself: Mo Yuan, Soul's father, brought in through facial and motion capture rather than just a voice credit. That puts Yen's involvement closer to a cast member than a brand ambassador, and it is the clearest signal yet of how seriously S-GAME is leaning on his martial arts background to sell the combat. Yen has choreographed and starred in decades of Hong Kong action cinema, including the Ip Man series, and his presence has been a consistent talking point in coverage of the game since the collaboration was first announced.

Quick Facts

  • Developer and publisher: S-GAME
  • Release date: October 29, 2026
  • Platforms: PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store)
  • Engine: Unreal Engine 5
  • Price: $59.99 Standard, $69.99 Digital Deluxe

With the date now locked and both editions live for preorder, the main open question is whether a seven-week polish pass was enough. The last previews before this build were largely positive on combat feel, so the answer lands the moment the servers go live on the 29th.
