Grand Theft Auto VI's Pre-Download Opens November 10 on PS5 and Xbox
Rockstar's pre-load window opens November 10 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, a 212GB download ahead of the November 19 launch, with pricing, editions and a storage checklist.

Grand Theft Auto VI's digital pre-load window opens November 10, 2026, nine days ahead of its November 19 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games has confirmed the window on both platforms, and the file itself is large enough that waiting until launch morning is not a realistic plan for most players.
When pre-loading actually starts
PS5 pre-loads unlock at midnight local time on November 10. Xbox Series X|S unlocks on a single global clock, set for 12 a.m. GMT, which lands the evening of November 9 for most of North and South America. Either way, the install itself runs up to 212GB depending on platform and edition, Rockstar's biggest launch-day footprint to date and more than double what Grand Theft Auto V asked for in 2013. Anyone who pre-ordered digitally through the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store already has the license attached to their account, so the download simply appears in the queue once the window opens; nothing extra needs to be purchased or redeemed to start pulling the files down.

What you're actually paying for
Rockstar settled pricing and edition contents back in June, and nothing about the lineup has changed since:
- Standard Edition — $79.99
- Ultimate Edition — $99.99, adding extra clothing, hairstyles, tattoos, vehicles, weapons, and a handful of additional locations on top of the base game
- Digital pre-order bonus through November 20: the Vintage Vice City Pack, plus one free month of the GTA+ subscription
- No microtransactions at launch in either edition, according to Rockstar
The game is confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar has not announced a PC version, and nothing in the pre-load rollout suggests one is coming alongside the console launch.
Clearing space without wrecking the rest of your library
212GB is a brutal ask on a console shipped with a 1TB SSD, where the real usable space after the OS and a handful of other installs typically sits well under 700GB. Deleting things at random the night before launch is the fastest way to lose save data you actually wanted to keep, so it's worth working through storage deliberately rather than just clearing out whatever looks big. If yours is nowhere near ready, this guide to freeing up that much console storage walks through exactly what's safe to offload first and what to leave alone.

Physical copies and what's actually in the box
Boxed editions on both consoles ship without a disc. What's in the case is a printed download code, redeemable through the console's own store once retail copies go on sale around November 12. That means physical buyers are effectively on the same pre-load timeline as digital buyers, minus a couple of days' head start, and the 212GB figure applies to them too the moment the code is redeemed.
Quick pre-launch checklist
- Confirm your pre-order is attached to the console account you'll actually play on
- Check free storage now, not the night of November 9
- Set the console to auto-start pre-loads, or set a reminder for midnight local time on November 10
- If buying physical, redeem the code as soon as the box arrives rather than holding it for launch
- Leave the console connected and powered through the window — a 212GB download left half-finished at launch is a bad way to spend November 19
Rockstar detailed the storage and timing specifics through its own channels, and PlayStation has backed the release with a dedicated blog post on how the game runs on PS5. The game carries an ESRB rating of Mature 17+ for blood and gore, intense violence, strong sexual content, drug use, and strong language, consistent with every mainline entry before it. Background on the series and its two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, is on the game's Wikipedia page, and Rockstar's own official site for the game is the place to check if any of these dates shift again before November 19.
