ARC Raiders Frozen Trail Update: Release Date, New Map and What Changes
Embark Studios confirmed October 8 for Frozen Trail, ARC Raiders' biggest update yet. Here's what the new map, ARC Operation and Outpost system change, plus what to do with expiring Cred before then.

Embark Studios has locked in October 8 as the release date for Frozen Trail, the next major content drop for ARC Raiders, and the studio is calling it the biggest update since launch. Store Update 1.47.0 went live on September 22 as the warm-up act, and a dedicated first-look stream airs later today, September 23, at 10am PDT (7pm CEST) on the official ARC Raiders YouTube channel. Here's what's confirmed so far, and what to wrap up before the current season rolls over.
Store Update 1.47.0 ships first
Update 1.47.0 is a smaller patch meant to hold the line until Frozen Trail arrives. It adds two new color variants for the Riposta cosmetic set, camo and white, and folds in a round of anti-cheat work the studio is calling its Fair Play update. That includes fresh ban waves against bot-like accounts, sanctions on abnormally high-value item transfers, better item-duplication detection, tighter rules around shared account licenses and longer first-strike permanent bans for repeat offenders. On the stability side, the patch fixes a Rawhide headgear toggle bug, keyboard input dropping out when the window refocuses, door sync and visibility issues, inventory items getting misplaced, lighting problems in Buried City, discolored world objects like lockers and toolboxes, and a PS5 physics crash. The Skill Tree also switches to hold-to-assign by default so points aren't spent by accident.

Frozen Trail's first look goes live today
Embark is treating the September 23 stream as the formal unveiling of Frozen Trail rather than a teaser. The studio has described it as the biggest update ARC Raiders has shipped since the game left early access, built around a new map, a high-level ARC Operation, new enemy types and a personal player space called the Outpost. Full details land during the broadcast, with the update itself following two weeks later on October 8.
The biggest map ARC Raiders has built
Frozen Trail's headline feature is a snowbound region on the outer edge of the Rust Belt, set beneath towering mountains and built with heavier verticality than any previous map. Embark describes abandoned villages, factories, research facilities and an observatory layered across the terrain, with threats waiting both above ground and below it. It's confirmed as the largest map the game has released to date, and the studio is framing the vertical layout as a deliberate shift from the mostly horizontal exploration of maps like Buried City and Dam Battlegrounds.
New enemies and a high-level ARC Operation
Alongside the map, Frozen Trail introduces a roster of new ARC threats, ranging from a small, aggressive problem-maker to what Embark calls "an enormous machine that will halt you in your tracks." The studio says each one went through months of iteration on animation and behavior to force Raiders to fight differently than they have against existing machines. Experienced players also get a new high-level ARC Operation, an extended activity built around cooperative decision-making, dynamic encounters and what Embark is pitching as one of the most intense experiences in the game so far.
Outpost, Skill Tree and Raider Deck get an overhaul
Beyond combat content, Frozen Trail adds the Outpost, a personal space separate from the shared Raider Den where players can decorate, research parts of the world and take early steps toward what the update calls reclaiming the surface. The Skill Tree is being adjusted to give more agency over the kind of Raider a player wants to build, and the Raider Deck is picking up deeper engagement and reworked rewards. New weapons with personalization options, gadgets, cosmetics and instruments round out the patch, alongside ongoing matchmaking, anti-cheat and stability work.

What to do before October 8
Frozen Trail's arrival also closes out several systems from the current season, so there's a short checklist worth running through first. If you still owe schematics before the deadline, a walkthrough of the current Raider Project's four stages explains everything you still need to hand in.
- Spend any leftover Cred with Shani or on Raider Deck rewards — it expires when Frozen Trail launches on October 8.
- Finish or sign up for Expedition 5 before September 29; there's no extension this time.
- Claim any community-earned cosmetics, including the Raider Den rubber ducks, before the October 8 cutoff.
- Wrap up the Ascending the Mountain Raider Project, since existing Raider Deck rewards carry over into the new system but the project itself won't stick around.
Embark has been open about slowing its release cadence this year, moving from frequent smaller patches to two major seasonal updates, and Frozen Trail is the first release under that plan. That makes today's first look more significant than a typical patch-notes drop: it's the clearest signal yet of how the studio wants to pace content going forward. Full patch notes, server downtime windows and any last additions will likely follow on the official ARC Raiders news page once the October 8 rollout gets closer.
